The preliminary exercise is a brilliant opportunity to learn the basics of filmmaking before creating your actual coursework project.

Video adverts pre-production: blog tasks

  1) Create TWO scripts for your two different adverts: script 1: fast, frantic, urgent - a man is running, running, running- shot of the man collapsing in the rain on an empty road. change of scene to an empty room in a hospital- a nurse comes into the room offering the product to the man. once consumed by the man in a hurry the man runs out of the hospital filled with energy and delight. another change of scene to the man on a park bench drinking the product. (voice over + pack shot in a white background) -establishing shot -fade out  to black - close up + over the shoulder Costume: Lighting / time of day: night time/ evening Actors - casting, placement, movement:  syed zain ul-haque and alanya lawlor... Excellent  knowledge of the texts. well done. EBI- Q1.3 (12 marker) is the key area of improvement. treat it like a mini essay and make sure your note taking is sufficient during the clip - written English as well. (capital letters) 2) Look at the mark scheme document linked above. Question 1.1 asks about mise-en-scene. What do we use to remember mise-en-scene? Give one example answer from the mark scheme too. we use CLAMPS to remember mise-en-scene Setting – empty city. as well as wills clothing. it makes him look like hes from our world. 3) Question 1.2 asks about narrative features in the extract. Look at the mark scheme to pick out  three  possible answers for this question.  action and enigma codes --> chase scene which is interesting to watch.   1) What is the  unique selling point  of the product?  the unique selling point this product is that it is only natural fruit and is good for you  2) What audience do you think this is aimed at? Add as much detail as possible (e.g. demographics, psychographics) and explain why. the target audience would be about 15-30 year olds and people living a healthy life style  3) What do you notice about the  technical construction  of the advert? Pick out one thing you like about the advert from camerawork, editing, sound or mise-en-scene. in the second innocent advert they have a stop motion theme and in particular the lush greenery around the product to provide that natural and healthy image to the product  4) What  representations  can you find in the advert?
