January assessment learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full

WWW: A strong assessment with some excellent with points - particularly in Q6. Well done

EBI: in Q3 you needed to detailed analysis of the poster to reach the top levels

-revise industry terminology

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully (you'll need your Greenford Google login to access this). Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1: 1/1
Q2: 1/1
Q3: 3/8
Q4:  0/2
Q5: 2/2
Q6: 13/20

3) Look specifically at question 3 - did you successfully write about both the preferred and oppositional readings? Did your answers match any in the mark scheme? Copy in one answer from the mark scheme that you could have used.

I explained what each reading was. However, i didn't apply analysis which if I did i would have achieved a higher mark. A example of an answer i could have wrote was the following.

• Women are portrayed in a subversive / non-conventional way as their

strength and independence is highlighted by the image (pose / pride in

facial expression etc.)

• This is an empowering image as she is looking directly at the target

audience (women) with a strong face so they can relate to her power and

resilience and aspire to be similar / mobilise into action.

• The rolling up of the sleeves has connotations of getting ‘stuck in’ and

ready for hard work and action. Her tied back hair also connotes taking

her job more seriously than her appearance.

• The bicep has connotations of masculinity and the clenched fist suggests

being tough and strong.

• Verbal codes: the text complements the image as it uses the collective

pronoun ‘We’ to involve other women and the positive phrase, ‘can do it’

with an exclamation for reinforcement of the message.

4) Now look at question 4. Write a definition of vertical integration plus the benefits of it to revise this key industry terminology. You may find the blogpost on ownership and control helpful here.

when a company owns various stages of the production process within the same industry. this can lead to more profit and can also cut down on cost of production.

5) Finally, look at your 20-mark essay - question 6Read this exemplar answer to help give you an idea of what a top-level response looks like. Then, write five points from either the exemplar answer or the mark scheme that you could have used in your answer. This will be excellent revision for a future film industry exam question.

I disagree with the statement because I, Daniel Blake made around £11 million and had a budget of £2 million  which is 5.5 times the budget made. However the purpose of I, Daniel Blake was not to be a profit making movie it was a political statement made by ken loach who is famous for such movies. in terms of advertisement I, Daniel Blake use a form of disruptive maketing and they did this by projecting the film name on the side of the house of parliament and also projected a quote from the movie on the side of buildings for people to read, also the had a social media presence and had the hashtag #weareallDnielblake and on top of this the director of the film went on  BBC question time. further more they had a premiere of the movie in New Castel to gather local support and the film had also won an award at the cannes film festival.
on the other had black widow had a budget of £200 million and had made around $300 million which isn't typical  of marvel but the film was released during the covid pandemic which during the time people didn't want to go outside and into cinemas. however, you could watch the movie in IMAX, also the film was marketed on Disney+ which you did have to pay for. i terms of marketing black widow was a lot more popular and also had more well know actors such as Scarlet Johansson when compared to I, Daniel Blake. they use tweets and billboards to permute the movie.
